Yamaha launches YH-L700A headphones for 3D immersive audio

Yamaha’s latest cans have been designed with immersive audio in mind. 

The Yamaha YH-L700A over-ear wireless headphones features the maker’s 3D Sound Field technology with head tracking. This is designed to transform traditional two-channel listening into a 360-degree sound field at the push of a button.

The tech work works with ‘stereo content from virtually any source’ and users can choose from seven 3D modes including Cinema, Drama and Music Video, Audio Room and Background Music, and Outdoor Live and Concert Hall modes.

Head tracking tech means that playback response in real-time depending on where the listener’s head is in relation to the device playing the content. 

The noise-cancelling cans also feature a Listening Optimiser that takes measurements in real-time to make subtle adjustments if the fit or wearing conditions change, to ensure the best sound.

To ensure that listeners can stay aware of their surroundings, an ambient sound mode uses built-in microphones to capture external sounds that are presenting in the background of the audio.

The maker’s Listening Care feature adjusts sound frequencies across the entire sound range to improve listening a low volume levels. 

All of the various modes and settings can be tweaked using the Yamaha Headphones Controller App, which is available on iOS and Android devices.

The YH-L700A feature memory foam for comfort and foldable ear cups for portability while tactile buttons enable users to control playback and activates features including 3D Sound Filed and ANC. The headphones offer up to 34 hours of listening time per change, says the maker. 

The Yamaha YH-L700A will be available from August with a price tag of £449.
